Pulse Cafe (UK) PDF Print
Tuesday, 12 February 2008

Pulse is the type of restaurant you wish you had thought of first. Tucked away in an ancient medieval courtyard and above a health food store, Pulse is not only a restaurant but an exercise in being charmed.

A combination of wooden floors, comfy couches and a classy looking bar, it is a restaurant made in vegan heaven. Everything on the menu is organically sourced and branded with the fair trade stamp, while all menu items sport a symbol telling you whether its wheat, gluten free or dairy free.

The food itself is gorgeous; from sandwiches the size of a house filled with salad, soy mayonnaise and tofu, to chickpea burgers and the kind of vegan chocolate cake that makes you question whether it is vegan at all. The fair-trade coffee is some of the best aroundin a country where the coffee rating is as abysmal, this is really saying something. You can have breakfast, lunch or dinner or just come in for coffee and cake. The music is relaxing, the staff friendly. The prices are enough to make you sob with happiness and the food is to die for. There are also organic wines and beers and an array of juices as well as a vegan hot chocolate and tea. It is the perfect place to find yourself after a day of wandering around Norwich.
