Launched in November 2007, this has gained more than a thousand supporters in just a few weeks and its users are coming from all over the world.

The brainchild of vegan Chris Tinney and three of his friends, the VegHaven network has a similar format to the MySpace phenomenon. There is no cost to sign up and VegHaven users can customise their profile pages in the same way that they can on MySpace. They can upload photos, videos and music, create groups or engage in chat forums. Members can send messages to each other either privately or via posting comments and images on individual profile pages.

VegHaven differs from MySpace in one major way. Thanks to the funds raised via its commercial advertisers, VegHaven was able to make its first charitable donation in early January. The donation was an interactive process, requesting input from users about where they thought the funds should be directed. The sum of $133.00 was donated to a Humane Society in Georgia, USA.

As we all know, veg*ns can be anything from peace-loving spiritualists to hard-core abolitionists and so the personal pages that have been created within the community are quite diverse. In the forums, no subject is taboo. The folks are friendly and the aim of the game is to have fun while helping out our fellow creatures. Brilliant idea and great network.

Check it out here.
