Eco-friendly dog poo bags PDF Print
Monday, 11 February 2008
With Australia planning to phase out plastic bags dog owners are going to need to find an alternative for cleaning up after fido.

These doggy-dunit bags and scoops from ecocern are not only adorable and convenient, they’re great for the environment too. Made from 100 per cent post-consumer waste and totally unbleached, they are definitely an eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastic dog poo bags. Plus, they are Australian owned and made. Consumers should note that even though a lot of the plastic doggy bags say ‘biodegradable’ on the packet, it can mean any number of things. It could mean it will biodegrade after 100 years or it could mean that it will biodegrade, but only if left exposed in open air and not added to landfill. The ecocern bags are cost-effective and won’t harm the environment whilst cleaning up after your four legged friend. You can even throw the entire thing in your compost bin.

ecocern also has scoops and scrapers available. The scrapers are recommended for little dogs with little poos. Medium to large dogs (or owners who want some distance between themselves and the dung) will need the scoops. The bags come in one size, big enough for any dog’s business. Doggy-dunit bags are available from selected retailers or order direct from the maker. Visit the ecocern website for more info.
