Stefans Pizza (VIC) PDF Print
Friday, 17 October 2008
Altona is hardly the vegan capital of Melbourne, however it is home to exquisite vegan pizzas. Stefan’s offers a range of gourmet, organic pizzas on a wide range of bases including standard, cape seed, wholemeal, low GI, gluten free and sourdough.

Customers can choose from fifteen different toppings, six of which can be made vegan. The Pumpkin Pizza is topped with shaved pumpkin, tomato, soy cheese, spinach and pine nuts. The base is crispy on the outside, fluffy in the middle, and the topping has an amazingly creamy taste. The Bednar Special with tomato, potato, onion, chilli, soy cheese and vegan sausage is also especially good. Garlic bread made from Laurent baguettes can also be prepared for vegans and is a crunchy treat. The service is exceptional – warm and friendly, with a local feel. For those who live far away, it’s definitely worth the trip and the small, functional shop has a couple of small tables with chairs for dining in. Alternatively, take your pooch and eat on the dog-friendly Altona beach.
