These brownies are deliciously gooey and decadent. If you have an allergy
to nuts, try replacing the walnuts with crushed dry, sweet biscuits.
1 tablespoon applesauce
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup water
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 cup raw sugar
1 cup plain flour
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup walnuts, roughly chopped
1/2 cup vegan choc chips or grated cooking chocolate
Icing sugar for dusting (optional)
Preheat oven to 180°C and line
a brownie/slice pan (22cm x 23cm) with baking paper
In a bowl combine applesauce, oil, water and vanilla.
Add all remaining ingredients and mix, but do not over mix or the brownies will
become tough.
Press the mixture into the pan evenly.
Bake for around 20-25 minutes, until firm but still soft.
Leave in the pan for ten minutes, then remove to cool. Once cool, dust with
icing sugar and slice into individual portions.
