Soulmama, overlooking
St Kilda beach from the St Kilda Sea Baths, offers not only an entirely meat-free
menu, but also a wide range of vegan-friendly meal choices. With a menu that
changes according to what’s fresh and in season, if you’re looking for a hearty
vegan meal, this is a great place to go.
Whether you’re there for lunch or dinner, you can opt for a small, medium or
large meal size. The staff will explain how you go about ordering and you
choose which vegan-friendly dishes you want from the buffet-style selection. I
enjoyed a spicy vegetable, tofu and black bean stir fry, vegie pasta, dhal and
sweet potato patties – all vegan, all delicious. You’re also able to create
your own freshly made pizza as well as choosing from tasty set menu options and
a choice of vegan-friendly desserts.
Choose a seat either by the ocean-front windows or cosy up next to the open
fireplace. The vegan options on the menu are clearly labeled, as are the wheat,
gluten and nut-free choices. There’s also a great range of beverages such as
beers, wines, cocktails, tea, juices and coffee available. Soulmama is a family
friendly eatery, providing high chairs, board games and plenty of room for
prams.
Sulmama supports a wide range of animal welfare and pro-vegan organisations
such as the World Wildlife Fund and PETA, and the super-friendly and helpful
staff will gladly give you info on any of these groups. Soulmama is a stylish
and ethical café, bringing great vegan cuisine to the wider audience it deserves.
