Peter SingerThe Don Chipp Foundation is hosting its annual Janine Haines Memorial Lecture in Melbourne this year. The 2008 lecture titled ‘Animal Welfare and Environmental Ethics: Parallels and Divergences’ will be held on Thursday 31 July and feature Professor Peter Singer.


Singer will be joined by a panel of experts including: Andrew Bartlett, member of the Australian Senate for ten years; Corey Watt, environmental campaigner; Glenys Oogjes, Executive Director of Animals Australia; and Tim Low, environmental campaigner and author.

The Janine Haines Lecture is an annual lecture sponsored by the Don Chipp Foundation. It is named after Janine Haines, the first Democrat Senator, and the first woman to lead an Australian Political Party. Every year the Janine Haines Lecture explores contemporary political debates as a creative and positive contribution to Australian political discussion.

This lecture featuring Peter Singer is a free community event.
