NY Times debates selling veganism with sex PDF Print
Friday, 28 March 2008
New York TimesThe New York Times yesterday published a lengthy, and interesting, feature article about the use of sexy images to sell veganism and/or animal rights.

Sparked by debate surrounding Casa Diablo, Portland’s vegan strip joint, the article goes on to look at the antics of groups such as PETA and their exploitation of women in trying to lure a mainstream audience to their cause.

The article quotes some credible vegans such as Post Punk Kitchen’s Isa Chandra Moskowitz and author Bob Torres. The one small irony of the article, which frequently quotes the owner of Casa Diablo, is that the strip club is now being advertised for sale on the internet for just under $1mil, a little over a month since its opening.

The article by Kara Jesella, The Carrot Some Vegans Deplore, is definitely worth reading and raises some really valid points, great work by The New York Times! Full article here.
