Instant vegan gravy powder PDF Print

The Cheatin’ Vegan Gravy Powder from The Redwood Co. is by far the best instant vegan gravy powder I’ve tried. Unlike many other products on the market it actually forms a consistency similar to meat-based gravies, and isn’t watery.

The flavour is reminiscent of what I remember beef gravy at the pub tasting like. Ingredients include potato starch, maltodextrin, wheat flour, salt flavourings, malt extract onion powder and dried sage. I found you need to use a higher powder:water ratio than suggested in the instructions to get the right thickness, and it tastes best if allowed to cool for around ten minutes before serving. There are load of options to lather your gravy on: tempeh roast, roast vegies, faux meat roast and hot chips. Another tasty idea is to buy the Cheatin’ ‘Beef’ Slices, also from Redwood Co., and make a vegan roast beef and gravy roll. Yum!

The powder contains no hydrogenated fats, artificial colours or flavours and is GMO free. Available from organic grocers and health food stores. Contact the Australian distributor for details.

Average Price: $8.95 per 200g tub
